Ensemble de deux dessins originaux de LÉON BERVILLE

Dessins datés des 4 et 9 août 1888 : « Le soir à l'extrémité de la rampe » (13,9 x 22,6 cm) et « La location de canots » (13,9 x 22,9 cm).

LéonBerville est le fils de Jules Berville, qui fonda en 1833 la maison Berville, entreprise proposant divers services pour les artistes et amateurs d'art : vente d'articles de dessins et de peinture, encadrementet vente de cadres, vente de toiles et de couleurs, restauration, papeterie, etc. et même location de dessins et de tableaux. Léon Berville dirigea l'entreprise familiale de 1870 à 1895, au 25 rue de laChaussée d'Antin (Paris, IXe arrondissement). Il est donc à penser qu'il baigna dès son plus jeune âge dans le milieu artistique, rencontrant et côtoyant les artistes parisiens ou de passage à Paris. C'est probablement ainsi qu'il prit lui-même goût au dessin : artiste amateur et néanmoins fort doué, Léon Berville parcourait la France durant ses vacances en emmenant toujours avec lui un carnet à dessins et des crayons. En toutes situations, Léon Berville croque avec aisanceles boutiques paysages et l'architecture au tournant des XIXe et XXe siècles.
